Object ImageCharged Strings

Charged Strings is a model that computes the lowest energy conformation of a linear string of charged balls. Students vary the charges to give a particular three-dimensional shape. The resulting molecules can be rotated in 3D to assess any discrepancy between their predictions and the model's new shape, and compared with the original shape.

Charged Strings requires the Cortona Player.

The Community Planner is a spatial modeling and visualization tool for community design and evaluation. Students can create a map of a neighborhood, town, or community, and analyze the map based on indicators that they can help define. The software supports the learning of map-making and map-reading skills, and the visualization and analysis of communities based on the objects and variables placed on the map.

Users can create 3D non-dynamic views of many different types of crystals.

You will need to download and install Java 1.4 and Java 3D 1.2 before downloading the Crystal Lab.

Windows users: After installing Java 1.4 and downloading the Crystal lab, double click on the "Oslet3D.zip" file to unzip it, creating the "oslet3D.jar" file. Double click on "oslet3D.jar" to launch the Crystal Lab.

This program has been incorporated into Molecular Workbench.

VideoPaper Builder is a tool for creating interactive video papers. This software runs only on Macintosh computers with operating systems up to version 9. This software is no longer supported.


Object ImageVideo Paper Builder 2.0

VideoPaper Builder 2 is a multimedia creation tool for users of any level of technology skills. The updated software version is cross-platform and runs natively in OSX or on Windows machines. VPB2 imports hypertext (HTML text), image, and video files, and assists the user in synchronizing these files as a single user-navigated multimedia web document. VideoPaper Builder 2 generates menus, links, framesets and slide shows, and organizes the imported files as an HTML coded document viewable in a web browser. Videopapers can be published in CD-ROM or posted on the Internet.


Object ImageWhat-If Builder

The What-If Builder is a tool to create decision-tree models, also known as 'Action Mazes,' 'tree literature,' 'plot branching,' or 'choose your own adventure.' A model consists of short sections of narrative, each ending with a choice for the reader that determines what happens next and thus which section of narrative the reader is presented with next.
